CHAPTER ELEVEN

DIANE

Words can’t explain how I felt hearing Kenzie tell me Chase and Shavon had sex in our house. I just knew she was lying and saying something to start some shit. There was no way Shavon and Chase would do some shit like that. I know Chase does his dirt, but he’s never touched my family. Hell, him and Shavon don’t even get along.

I turned around to look at Chase and Shavon. Neither of them even bothered denying what she said. Nor did they look me in the eyes. I just know this has to be some kind of sick joke. I felt like I was about to throw up where I stood. I was shaken up and tears started to form in my eyes. I literally have no one in this world but them, and they chose to betray me.

I watched as Chase walked my way, and a sense of relief washed over me. I thought he was coming to console. To reassure me that he would never do anything like that even if we’re not together but instead, he kept walking right past me. I’m assuming to go talk to Kenzie, but it’s not happening this time. I let him get away with a lot of shit while we were together, but not this time. I deserved to know what the fuck is going on.

I stormed in the house and up the stairs right behind him. I didn’t care if he was going to his room or not. Kenzie could stand there and hear this entire conversation, if need be, but it was going to happen.

I turned the doorknob without knocking and pushed the door open. Chase was sitting on the bed with his face in his hands. He looked up at me, and all I saw was regret and sorrow in his eyes. Any other time I would have felt bad for him, but not this time. This time it was all about me and my feelings. Fuck him and the horse he rode in on.

“Chase, what the hell is Kenzie talking about? Tell me that she’s lying,” I begged.

Chase looked at me, and we must’ve stared at each other for at least five minutes in silence until he finally decided to speak.

“What Kenzie said is true, but she doesn’t know the entire story. The shit didn’t happen the way Shavon made it seem. We had sex the night she was at the house a few months ago after me and you had that argument about me never being at home anymore.”

“You motherfucker, you had sex with her while I was in the house!” I yelled in disbelief as I charged at him. I swung on him, and he flung me out of the way like a rag doll.

“Don’t put your hands on me, Diane, or I’m going to fuck you up. Either stand there and listen to what I have to say or get the fuck out and never get an explanation, because this is the only chance you’ll get one from me.
